Simenon earned recognition in 1988 for his club hit " Beat Dis," one of a string of top ten UK hits on the Rhythm King label. Simenon says, "As a teenager I listened to punk, rap, dub, the whole spectrum. So Bomb the Bass is the result of me being able to tune into a lot of different things." Simenon also had a hand in producing Nench Cherry's 1989 breakthrough single, "Buffalo Stance."
